The completed Fireplace Project

When we moved into the house, the people that were supposed to buy it designed these rediculous shelves as the main entertainment center. All 3 were the same width and a modern television would not fit in there.
We temporarily put a large wood brace in the center one and mounted the TV to it. The project started as demolition and Greg used the sledgehammer and knocked the unit out.

This was quite the danger zone for a while. Then we hired contractors and a gas piping professional to come out and build the infrastructure in one weekend. Greg helped them alot, but with little Allison we knew it would take forever to try to do it alone since her bedroom is right beside this. We wouldn't be able to work on it when she was sleeping and I couldn't help Greg if she was awake. It worked out well to hire help.

Here the fireplace has been inserted and the framing for the flat screen is being started. You can see Allison's crib in the nursery to the right.
Greg got some awesome surround sound speakers that are wall flush mounted and flat canisters that go in the ceiling. He also got a remote that all the systems link up to and it's not by the standard sensor that you have to point it to the receiver. Instead all of our electronic equipment is in the cabinets and you can't see it.

Here is our fake log fireplace. It looks really nice though.
The mantle is stained to match the shelves and cabinets. And our stockings are hung!

Yay! It's finally finished! And we are very happy with it!
