Jax Zoo with Michaela

Allison got to spend one of my days off at the Jacksonville Zoo with her friend Michaela. They are only a few weeks apart in age. They hadn't seen each other in a while but they hit it off right away. They were like 2 little mimicers. Whenever one would do something, the other would do it too, then laugh. It was very cute.

There is an enclosed bird aviary which is very cool. There are so many cool birds and fish that are only feet away from you. Here all these birds were resting on a railing, not bothered by us at all.

I'd like to say that this bird wasn't bothered by us....but maybe by Allison. She took a liking for this 2 foot tall bird. In fact she followed him for a while and tried to pet him. He just kept his distance, which wasn't far.

She sure did chase this poor bird for a bit. :o)

Then we headed over to the Zoo Splash Zone. They had a blast playing in the water!

After we dried up and changed their clothes we headed over to the Giraffe Feeding Area. We always have to stop here and feed the giraffes. There is a new baby Gifaffe that is only a few weeks old. He wasn't hungry though. Last time we were here Allison didn't like the long slimy tongues they had.

This time she was a little more curious and tried to pet their tongues! She was adorable.

She and Michaela fed them until their lettuce was gone, then said bye-bye and we headed home.
