Work Pics

Every once in a while I get some cute pictures while working. Here are a couple pictures of some newborn Yorkie pups that were delivered at work. The mother dog delivered one dead puppy and then the next one was apparently stuck for 4 hours before the owners called asking if that was too long. (Yes!) So they came right in and I was able to determine that the next puppy wasn't stuck, but that the mother didn't have enough energy to push (uterine inertia). So with a little medical Rx intervention we were able to have her deliver the 3 remaining puppies at work. These pics are about 10 minutes after they are born. All healthy.

And this little guy is alive thanks to my neighbors rescuing him. He was found lying in the middle of US-1 at 10:00 at night. They drove right past him and saw he wasn't dead. They pulled over and got him and called me right away. So at 10:30pm I had a little medical exam on our kitchen counter to determine that he either had a broken leg or an injured spine but couldn't tell without xrays, and he was clearly in shock. I gave him some meds at home, put him in my bathtub with a bunch of blankets and brought him to work in the morning. If they would have taken him to the ER as a good citizen, he would have been euthanized. Once at work we determined he only had a dislocated hip! Once it was finally popped back into the socket and his leg put into a sling he was so much better. After a few weeks of fostering, some vaccines, and a neuter he is finding himself a new home and a new lease on life. Unfortunately his microchip wasn't registered so it was pretty much pointless.
